Government & Politics Blog

If the water supply in your home appears to be tainted due to chemicals or foreign substances that are in the well that is on your residence's property, use the following tips to sanitize the water so that is safe for consumption.

Materials

  • screwdriver
  • drop cloth
  • bucket
  • water hose
  • detergent
  • soft-bristled scrub brush
  • vacuum suction unit
  • chlorine bleach
  • water treatment tablets

Remove The Filter And Pump And Clean Each Piece

Turn off the water supply. Remove the cover to the well and place it aside. Locate the water pump. In many cases, it will be near one of the side, interior walls of the well. Use a screwdriver to remove any hardware that is secured to the pump. Once the hardware pieces have been placed in a secure area, pull the pump unit out of the well by hand.

Turn the pump over to locate the filter. Slide the filter out from its casing. Place the pump and the filter inside of a bucket that has warm, soapy water added to it. Allow the pieces to soak for several minutes in order to loosen hardened residue. Afterwards, use a soft-bristled scrub brush to eliminate any residue that remains. Rinse the filter and water pump off with a water hose when finished.

Empty The Holding Tank And Treat The Water

Hook up a power vacuum suction unit to an electrical source at your home. Use the machine to remove the water that is currently in the water tank. Once the tank is empty and the water has drained, remove residue from the well's side walls with a cleaning solution and a scrub brush. Afterwards, fill the tank and add bleach and the appropriate water treatment tablets according to the instructions that you were provided with when you bought the water treatment kit. Reinstall the water pump and filter and reattach the hardware pieces.

Keep Your Water Clean

One of the easiest ways to prevent dirt or chemicals from entering your well is by making sure that the well has a secure cover. An additional way to protect your water supply is by placing a large piece of plastic sheeting or a vinyl tarp over the opening to the well whenever yard work, such as mowing grass, clipping shrubs, or eliminating branches is completed, As a result, you will have a clean supply of water on hand whenever needed. It is also a good idea to have your water supply tested regularly by a water well testing professional to provide you with piece of mind.

Instead of continuing to ignore the issues, I decided to do a little research so I actually knew what I was voting on. I took the time to read new policies, watch real-live debates, and even attend a town hall meeting. When election time rolled around, I felt like I knew what I was voting for. This blog is all about understanding political issues so that you can feel informed and understand how the political system works. Check out this blog to find out more.
